The artwork shows a field flooded with blue water, where two villagers are planting rice seedlings. In the foreground on the right is a peasant with a hoe on his shoulder. He is wearing a white shirt, short blue trousers, and a conical hat. There is a large teapot and two mugs at his feet on the ground. On the left, three peasant women are depicted among the yellow-green stalks of ripe rice that reach to their waist. One of the women, wearing a white kebaya and with a pink scarf on her head, touches the spikelets of rice. In the background, there is greenery, a strip of blue-lilac gentle hills and blue sky. In the lower right corner of the painting there is the artist's signature. On the back, the artist's name and the title of the painting in Indonesian are written in pencil – Suparno. Sawah.
